swap out: i had 4 motorola surfboards (blue ones), then two smc wireless cable modems, then back to an additional morotola surfboard.
final month i upgraded from extreme 15mb to broadband 50 so they gave me another new but this time docsis three. cable modem produced by smc.
yet another note i would like to add, how do i test my net connection before i would just go to speed test.net or other web sites and it worked but if i do that now with the 50 package it comes up with only ten-20mb down speed when it would be 50+ or at least 40-45mb i was told theres another way i have to test due to the fact its a docsis 3. but i cant figure out how.

The SMC employed by Shaw appears to reset beneath heavy load (torrents , lots of connections, not the maximum speed), even if it is in Bridge mode.
I found it worse when the SMC was acting as a router, so I asked Shaw to alter it to Bridge mode, and used my personal router instead.
In my torrent client I had to minimize the max peerst o decrease the number of resets. (about 60 peers total permits issues to run for days without having reset, usually a single a week, rather of multiple resets per day)
There could be some thing else affecting your specific setup, my old Motorola modem did not reset really usually, possibly as soon as every 6+ months
Note: in my speed test results I do get 45 megabit to 49 megabit on typical, on a speed test server in the very same city, it does drop down in speed going to other Cities.
