Changing Verizon FiOS IP Address on Westell Router! (8 Easy Steps)

you may have thought it was impossible to release and get a new ip from verizon with the new westell ultraline router they have been giving out. i spent around 5 months on and off trying to figure out a way to get the damn thing to actually release the ip. i even called in and they sent me a replacement westell. we originally had the revision A westell, and now we have a revision B (you can check on the back of the router, says HW revision) but they should be the same as the firmware is the same for both versions. To change the ip, it requires a MoCA connection instead of ethernet. if you use a coaxial cable (same cable you plug your old TV with to get cable tv) this will work EVERYTIME guaranteed. The trick sounds weird, you must release the ip first using the ETHERNET wan, and then release it from COAX. even though ethernet is disabled, it actually controls the releasing of the ip from verizon regardless if you use moca or ethernet. you need to open two tabs of the router, you cannot do it from the same tab or it won’t work. 1: open two tabs of router. the link is 192.168.1.1 2 open a third tab and go to www.whatsmyip.org or www.cmyip.com to get your current ip address 3: go to the first tab. click my network tab, then click network connections. click broadband connection (coax). click configure connection. 4: go to the second tab. click my network tab, then click network connections. click broadband connection (ethernet). click configure connection. CLICK RELEASE. 5

after the new firmware version was rolled out, i cant seem to do this anymore using the steps above. the ip just won’t want to change anymore and it requires me to keep it off all night. if anyone else figures out a way to do it on the new firmware (Firmware Version:
1.03.00.05) send a reply or PM!

if you want to change the range of your ip address (example: get rid of the beginning two numbers 96.254), try changing the mac address but usually releasing ip, changing mac and then leaving router off overnight will get you a new range of ip but it depends on how many ranges are in your area
